Battle Stations

It was Family night in the Gunn's house last night we had a mega steak dinner with lemon potatoes. I need to get the recipe. After tea we walked round the lake and I showed George how to do keepy uppy with a lob wedge and a golf ball.

We watched the TV programme Survivor they seemed to be really into it.

After the TV programme ended I was challenged to a game of battle ships by Audrey (Aged 10 almost!!). The pressure was really on I could feel the beads of sweat accumulating on my brow. A smart 10 year old had challenged me to a game of war strategy.

We set our boards up and started. There was a lot of missing until after about 15 goes a hit!!! The blood bath would begin. I was determined to win, you know not that I am Mr Competitive!! I soon sank one of her little boats. Undeterred Audrey soon struck back she had a hit on my Aircraft Carrier. I had christened it the SS Missouri (from a Steve Seagull Film). With clinical accuracy and aggressions Audrey sank my Carrier.

The game edged back and forward for an hour and a bit and eventually i got her!! sinking all her ships and cleaned up. The victor was a close thing Audrey was only about 2 hits from winning.

What a relief I think I might possibly be smarter than a 10 year old !!!!!

Wallace.
